Only Revolutionary Love Can Save Us Now – KBS Webinar w/ Michelle Alexander

On August 6, 2024—the anniversary of the dropping of the first atomic bomb in Hiroshima in 1945—the King and Breaking Silence Committee—a project of the National Council of Elders—will host a webinar featuring Michelle Alexander in conversation with Joyce and Nelson Johnson.

Michelle is civil rights lawyer and advocate, legal scholar and author of the New York Times best seller, “The New Jim Crow: Mass Incarceration in the Age of Colorblindness.” Joyce and Nelson—elders involved with NCOE—are civil rights activists and founders of the Beloved Community Center, Greensboro, NC.

The topic for the webinar—Only Revolutionary Love Can Save Us Now—was inspired by Michelle’s recent essay of the same name in The Nation, which we encourage you to read beforehand. Their conversation will be moderated by minister, educator and author Rev. Damien Durr.
